Food for Thought.......

how to add the AGP support for my i810 driver. I copied the XFConfg86-4 file from RedHat directory and tried kdm, xdm, gdm. But same 600x480 mode. When I opened /var/log/XF86config.log, it says "1024x768 no mode of this name." what to do? How can I get 1024x768 mode. I tried all the methods, like, kernel 2.4.20, kernel 2.6.5, XFree86 4.1.0 and XFree86 4.3.0 i810 driver, Knoppix config file, RedHat config file. But same problem. How to configure XServer to work in 1024x 768 mode

To configure X use "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86". You should be able to set the resolution here.

Good luck

velan - this is your 3rd thread on the same topic (problem). This does not help you, the people trying to help you or the people running this. By doing this people who have not contibuted to other threads miss th previous info given and hence the solutions merely multiply themselves. For other considering posting help I suggest you also read the threads http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=174609 and http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=177194

About AGP -- I'd be interested to know what kind of output the command "dmesg | grep agpgart" gives you. This should tell you how your kernel detects your graphics card.

Also, in another thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=177194 you write that you have Windows installed. You can use the Control Panel in Windows to verify what graphics card you actually have. The correct detection of graphics card is obviously one of the most important points in creating a successful XFree86 configuration file.
