I have installed the mplayer plugin and when installing realplayer 10, it does install some plugins for firefox as well.
However, it looks like I am having trouble playing audio/video *.ram files. I have been removing/installing them one by one but when they are installed together, it is not always behaving ok...
One thing that I have noticed is that eventhough I can see the list of plugins via 'about
lugins', they do not appear in Edit > preferences > downloads . plugins.
When I tried MEPIS, I remember that all these plugins were installed without conflicts and that they were listed both in about
lugins and in the preferences menu. So this means that the installation process that we followed is probably a little bit more than just placing files in the firefox/plugins directory.
it would be really helpful for people starting with debian if there were some clarifications about how to install these plugins properly and completely. Also it would probably avoid many queries regarding plugins in the future.
Thanks in advance for any bit of info that you could provide or point to regarding these differences in installation and possible conflicts when plugins are not installed properly.
