File/Directory Permissions
I have directories/files set with group permission but, if a user within the group creates a new directory the permissions are set for read, write & execute for that person and no access for all others in the group.
My question is how do I set a directory and therefore the files to keep the same (group) permissions all the time? Can someone answer this for me or direct me to some reading material so I can figure this out. I have researched it several times with no results. Thanks Wayne |
Man umask.
You can set the default global file permissions in /etc/bashrc, or the default user file permissions in ~/.bashrc. A brief explanation is given in http://docs.cs.byu.edu/docs/linuxpermissions/2.php#5. Cheers, mj |
