I'm trying to build a new box, and since it seems the netinstall disks for Lenny are not available, I'm using my old netinstall etch disk to install from. My problem is, during the 'install additional software' phase of the install, after I select a mirror and select 'Desktop Envrionment' and 'Standard Computer' or whatever the two defaults are, the progress bar goes to 5%, then just hangs. I've done it three times now, tried three different mirrors, used the basic install and expertgui, and they all hang at the same place. Do I need to do anything special to get this to work? I have a feeling that since my 'etch' disk is from when 'etch' was in 'testing' and now it's 'stable' there could be an issue with apt. I'm not sure though. Any suggestions would be great.
hi,
in my opinion,
you should download the new installer,
the old installer uses packages from poll which is probably not avalaible (different names and releases)
regards
bela

There is a new updated release of Debian Etch 4.01r, I recently installed that on a machine. It worked flawlessly. Perhaps you should try the new net install iso for Etch?
I used jigdo to download the latest CDs. Then I used only the disks to install from. Works fine so far. Also jigdo cheks the control sums to check that the download went fine.
