Error while initializing the sound driver for a Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 ZS
I am having a little trouble in KDE. I am running debian etch. I was using gnome for a little while but did not like it so I installed KDE using Synaptic. When I log in as my username I get this error message "Error while initializing the sound driver: device:default can't be opened for playback (No such file or directory) The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
This is the lspci-v print out of the soundcard info: 00:0c.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 04) Subsystem: Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 ZS (SB0350) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 11 I/O ports at ee80 [size=64] Capabilities: <access denied> 00:0c.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy MIDI/Game port (rev 04) Subsystem: Creative Labs SB Audigy MIDI/Game Port Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64 I/O ports at ef90 [size=8] Capabilities: <access denied> 00:0c.2 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Creative Labs SB Audigy FireWire Port (rev 04) (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Subsystem: Creative Labs SB Audigy FireWire Port Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 10 Memory at dfd00000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2K] Memory at dfc00000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied> Any help would greatly be appriate becasue sound works when I log into gnome but not KDE :(. |
I'm having the same problem on Sarge; I noticed that in the dev folder there is no dsp device at all, but there is a snd device; I think KDE might have to be reconfigured to use /dev/snd, but I have absolutely no clue how to do that.
