I don't know how to install of configure 'locate'

This is a Debian installation w/Woody and the 2.4.18 kernel.

Never mind.

I realized you need to use the updatedb command.

trouble locating locatedb

I'm very new to debian
and still not able to use locate...
in RH9 etc it was very easy...
# locate -u <enter>
would update the locate database,
but in debian (xandros 2.4.22-xl)
I can't locate the locatedb script or updatedb script
and can't make sense of the man pages to know how to use
this fundamental utility in debian...

sudo locate -u

works in Debian woody and Sarge. Also in Ubuntu Warty, along with every other standard Linux distro I have used.

(Thanks for help) The clue I needed: "updatedb"
and *wait* without any feedback for about 10 mins.
then locate works just like normal on Red Hat system....

after using 'updatedb' used 'top' and could see 'find' running...)

Previously when I was a Red Hat user...
locate would always work without problems... I never knew how because I didn't need to fix something that worked!
reason for change to Debian:
With RH8 and 9 I started to run into problems with
finding things... then I heard about Debian - which sounded great
but I didn't have enough experience to get Debian up
and working...had problems with dual head radeon etc
needed to 'locate' where things were on an unfamiliar
system. So I bought boxed Woody... now have xp,
RH9, Xandros 2, and woody all running on same
box...
