Error: active panel underneath?

Sarge, Gnome 2.10:

After login, and after loading Nautilus, an error message appears telling me that there is an open panel that will be closed at start. I click the "accept" button and everything gets going as normal.

Any hint on how to solve it?

Thanks!

I don't have a solution, but did you mean GNOME 2.8 instead of 2.10? The GNOME is sarge is 2.8 - that is unless, you have tried one of the backports ...

It's the 2.10, from sid.
I get Gnome to start with default settings and the bottom of the splash screen shows two, and now three, panel icons. One of them starts, and an error message appears telling me that there is another panel running, and will close immediately.

What is the matter with them? I have reinstalled the Gnome panel files, to no avail. Any hint?

Thanks so much !!
