Drop shadows don't work in KDE4 on Debian?
 

Cannot get any drop shadows in KDE 4 on Debian Lenny backport. Have enabled them and made them large and black and so on in System Settings -> Desktop Effects -> All Effects. But there is nothing. Compositing translucency type stuff works alright. Incidentally the clock on the kicker or whatever it is called does not work right either.

Is their any way round this presumed "bug"? I derive a simple bliss from drop shadows. Huge thanks any help.
