dpkg: error processing libc6

new install of debian woody on a 700Mhz ibook white.

The apt-get just does not work anymore. It will get the files but will not install them. says:

date: invalid date 'Fri Nov 26 22:34:02 UTC 1937'
dpkg: error processing libc6 (--configure):
Subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while procesing:
libc6
installation script returned error exit status 100

Bascially under dselect it lists libc6 as broken and it will not install it therefore it will not install anything else either. They just sit there. Is it the date? For some reason my computer thinks it is 1937.

Any idea how to fix this?

try to set the date using "date" and check the date and time in your bios. I'm sure this is not the real problem. Try to run 'apt-get -f install' ....

First macs don't have bios instead it has firmware which I am unsure how to change the date in that.

Also I have already tried apt-get -f install
It didn't work and gave me the same error.

E: /usr/bin/dpkg error exit status 1

Ok, try to download libc deb package (are you running testing or stable?) and force installation with dpgk -i --force-overwrite <libc-package.deb>

FIXED IT!!!!

Of all things it was the freaking date! I changed the date and it ran like a dream.

For others you can do that by typing:
date mmddHHMMYYyy
so
date 121520152005
Dec 15 8:15 2005

I also updated. I am no longer woody, I am now a sarge man!

BTW while I am at it I need to ask.

after updating and upgrading I installed x86

apt-get install x-window-system

It installed all good but the configuration wizard never started. Is there something I missed to make it start up so I can tell it my screen and all?
