i know this might be a dumb question, but i just can't help it. =)

i'm thinking of using my windows to remote desktop my linux box. then this lead my thought to VNC, since i don't have xwindows installed in debian, only shell, so i guess vnc wouldn't work. would it???

SO now i'm thinking about ssh. but then how do i configure ssh in my debian box??? debian already have it installed?? and can i just use putty to connect to it??? or i have to configure ssh server first?? and what's the default port??? and how do i configure it???

couldn't search for any post about this issue. =(

IF sshd is already running then yes, puTTY will be a suitable candidate to connect with. on the debbox run "ps ax | grep sshd" and if that reports ssh is running, you should be fine. if not, the install the openssh-server .deb package (i've no idea what the real name would be, i'm not a debian user.)
