Dialog in Synaptic shows gibberish (Solved)

Ok my system is officially crazy.

Updated to KDE 3.5.3 with no problems or so I thought.

Went to update a few other packages using Synaptic and when the terminal popped up to show the info it was gibberish.

Like D~```~~x@@~e

All of the text is weird and unreadable.

But the weird thing is if I copy and paste it to a text editor it is readable.

Already tried reconfiguring the fonts, another wierd thing is when I rebooted the first message was terminal error no environment set.

I am not having problems with text if I use apt or aptitiude but I prefer using
Synaptic. HELP!!!

Nevermind had to run dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config and all is well.
