DHCP Problems -- fallback solution ?

Hello!

Sometimes DHCP doesn't seem to work (but I believe this is mostly because of my ISP) and, when this happens, I'd like the network adapter to get automatically configured with some predefined settings (IP, gateway). Can this be done ?

So basically:
system startup -> try to configure net adapt. with DHCP
IF successful: continue
ELSE: ifconfig eth0 <ip> up && route add default gw <gateway> && continue

You can install zcip or zeroconf
