Yes, there is a .deb package available. However, it's highly controversial as the entertainment industry considers it "illegal" so it's not available in the Debian repositories. You can find this package with a searchengine like Google or Altavista.
PS: the industry actually *lost* a courtcase against it's Norwegian writer, known as "DVD John"

The Debian Project could face legal action from the entertainment industry if it adds this package to the repositories. This could, and probably will, be the end of Debian... Other distro's do also not include this package! This relates directly to the legal stuff regarding (shudder) DRM. Mind you, the industry is very powerfull, as they have the resources to a) claim copyright to infinity, b) influence lawmakers in their advantage and c) pay for staff to fight courtcases.
Thank god for "unofficial" repositories. THe dvd now plays as if by magic!
Thanks a lot. To hell with the "industry". I paid money to buy this dvd genuinely and I'll be damned if I let these media thugs dictate my medium of choice.
I'm considering suing Sony in a consumer court alleging this issue of encryption.
