Debian Wheezy default init system.
Hey guys, so i know that Systemd has caused a bit of a fuss with debian as it has in a few other places too. I am not clear and i was just wondering if someone could kindly inform me.
Will Debian continue to offer systemv as the default init system in Wheezy? or are they making the defiant move to systemd as well, and if they are, will systemv be optional? |
As Wheezy is now frozen I doubt Debian will switch to sytemd now, Jesse may be a different story.

Is it even possible for Debian to switch to systemd as default init system? At least Debian GNU/kFreeBSD can not support this.

Personally, i'm glad Debian is sticking to systemv. Thanks for clearing that up with me guys. |
If there is anything newer than this, my poor $SEARCH_ENGINE foo skills cannot come up with it: http://people.debian.org/~biebl/lpc-...ebian-init.pdf

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux...general/163652 I must admit that I don't understand how they can transition GNU/Linux to systemd and leave kfreebsd and hurd with sysvinit...? |
(I have revived this thread to give a quick update.
Today i installed Wheezy from the bet3 installer. Wheezy has installed, and to my surprise the init system installed is systemd :() Sorry for reviving this, my Debian skills are rusty, my above statement is false, systemd is not installed. Sorry again for reviving this. |
