That's probably because Sources.gz is a file not a directory. Did you try just using this:

http://ftp.debian-unofficial.org/deb...e/main/source/

These are the lines in the sources.list file:

deb http://ftp.debian-unofficial.org/debian/ sarge main contrib non-free restricted
deb-src http://ftp.debian-unofficial.org/debian/ sarge main contrib non-free restricted

This is what is returned from synaptic:

http://ftp.debian-unofficial.org/deb...e/Sources.bz2: Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (2)

It appears that those files have size=0 when I look at them. Maybe email the webmaster???

i suggest you try to play around with your sources.list a bit

deb http://ftp.debian-unofficial.org/debian/ sarge main contrib non-free restricted
works for me.

Debian Unofficial is *not* down

Debian Unofficial has been down[0] on November, 8th 2005 for less than 12 hours due to a hardware failure (complete harddisk breakdown). Since then, Debian Unofficial was *never* down again, not even a second.

Last Friday, I uploaded a bunch of new updates and switched to other archive scripts to support oldstable, testing and unstable for distribution-independent binary-only packages. Unfortunately, the propagation of the source indices is broken by that. I'm fixing it soon.

I would much appreciate, if people:

a) read the mailinglist, the source indices failure was announced[1]
b) don't put in useless deb-src entries which they never will use if they don't repack my packages
c) contact me instead of claiming that something is down
d) would understand the message which apt-get shows: only the fetch of the source indices fail, the binary indices are just ok.

Thank you,
Daniel

..and actually, here should be the list of references to the mailinglist, but thanks to your broken forum, I am not allowed to do so until I posted 5 messages *arrgh*
