Debian Testing Chromium Browser Can't Add Ad Block Plus or Other Plug Ins

Hi:

I'm running Sparky Linux KDE: based on Debian Testing.
Runs GREAT!

Code:
~$ cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="SparkyLinux Tyche"
NAME="SparkyLinux"
VERSION_ID="4"
VERSION="4 (tyche)"
ID=sparky
https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=sparky

Code:
$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ testing main non-free
The Bug Report says that this was fixed in Chromium 56. I'm currently running 57. So, you'd think the problem wouldn't exit in version 57:-

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...cgi?bug=841401

Any idea how to be able to add Ad Block Plus, Video Download Helper and other plug in's?

It was not and it won't be fixed. You can ask the maintainers for the why if you want.
Your only solution is starting chromium with the "--enable-remote-extensions" parameter... or move to chrome.

Do you mean this from the cmd-line?

Code:
chromium --enable-remote-extensions
I'll skip asking the maintainers but thanks for the idea.

If you want it to take effect even when launching from a link, and after upgrades, edit /etc/chromium.d/default-flags and add
Code:
export CHROMIUM_FLAGS="$CHROMIUM_FLAGS --enable-remote-extensions"

Thanks! -

Will Chromium upgrade when apt updates or will I have to manually upgrade?

By default, it will update when available unless you have it held/pinned/etc to prevent it from doing so.

^ This will stop working the next time apt udpates chromium, because apt will replace the edited file with the package's one which does not contain the relevant lines. Keep it in mind please.

Actually, it will ask if you want to update, and all you have to do is say to keep currently installed version of the config file. I've been doing this for 5 or 6 upgrades now.
