Question Debian, swfdec, codecs, sudo

Trying to install missing codecs for swfdec, and I get to this page.

After I select the gstreamer plugin, I'm asked for my root password. I have root disabled, only using sudo. I use my sudo password, and the codecs install fails.

How to get synaptic to install the codecs? Do I have to belong to a particular group?

Any assistance, greatly appreciated.

sudo apt-get install

How and why did you disable root?
