Fresh install of debian, i made sure to install the gui things (gnome, kde)
right now, it boots into the command line, but i dont know how to enter the gui, my default is kde, and i am using the latest version of debian (3.0rc2 i think)
I get an error, its probably because i configured it wrong, said there were screens found, but none have a usable configuration. How would i reconfigure my moniter?

First you need to know your monitor's horizontal and vertical refresh values. (If you don't have the monitor's manual, make a google search.) Then run (as root) "dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xfree86".
You can also check /var/log/XFree86.0.log to see if the error messages -- lines beginning with (EE) -- tell what is wrong with your current X configuration.
