Angry Debian on a Toshiba M45-S355

I'm attempting to install Debian 3.1 with the 2.6.8 kernel on a Toshiba M45-S355 and having no luck. The net installer didn't recognize my nic so I downloaded the min install cd and thought I could get either of my nics running with ndiswrapper but that didn't work either so I'm at a loss.. Any help would be apreciated...

I had to disable ACPI during boot to recognize the internal wireless on this machine. Try that and see if it works.

I have the same notebook!
In SuSE I have the same problem and the solution is to use this parameters in boot options (e.g. menu.lst of GRUB):
irqpoll pci=usepirqmask
You can change brightness (Fn+F6 or Fn+F7) in your laptop?
You can to use multimedia keys (in left side of keyboard) of your laptop?

Debian 3.1 is too old to your machine, because this version use a very OLD Kernel and your machine is very NEW (with new tecnologies in your hardwares).

Use Debian ETCH ("testing version") and see ERRATA (http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/errata)

Your CD-ROM is conected by SATA Controller, so... see the topic "CD-ROM drives connected to SATA controllers not detected" in ERRATA.

Try OpenSuSE 10.1! You don't need none "work arround" to use this distro!
See www.opensuse.org

Best regards,
Yamane
