Debian NetInstall Help
I just installed debian via netinstall. I am new to Debian and the whole net_install thing. Well I installed debian but when it boots in its all text based like in console mode. I dont know why or how to make it graphic like with Gnome. Can someone please help me because this sucks!
I'm pretty much a :newbie: (newbie) so please be easy on me. |
Login as root and do
apt-get install gnome gdm This will install a good chunk of gnome and a graphical login, now you could just type gdm to start the graphical login into gnome. Next time you reboot will take you straight to the graphical login if you don't like the console. |
Thanks, I'll go try it out and get back to you with my result! :D

Okay so I tryed apt-get install gnome gdm, but once it got to 100% it onyl downloaded like 111mb and then it tryed connecting to something else, but it gave me the error "Could not connect data socket, connection timed out." So I tryed typing apt-get install kde gdm, but it did the same thing again 30 min after downloading something that got me nothing. Please help!

apt-get install x-window-system
could work.. |
Look, NetInstall is fairly small and fast installation. Why don't you start from begining and this time choose and select "Desktop Environment". When it finishes you'll have KDE and GNOME all together.
