It's been a while, but I'm finally back. I've run into a small problem. I finished putting together my MythTV box yesterday, using Knoppmyth, and everything is now set up correctly. I had it running, was able to watch TV through the set-top box, etc. However, when I restart the computer, it hangs on the following line:
"Waiting for /dev to be fully populated..."
The odd thing is, after the initial install, it starts up fine, allows me to do the setup for MythTV, and functions properly, as soon as I reboot, it hangs on the line above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've googled until I'm blue in the face, to no avail.
Hmmm, this is not good news.... Not for you, obviously, but for me as well. I'm just about to build a new desktop and refurbish the old one to become a Debian/Knoppmyth-based MythTV PVR.
Sorry I can't help you (yet?) but I'll be watching this thread with interest!
(perhaps I can help a bit: log in as root in single-user mode, then check dmesg for errors, post those here)

I would do that, but it won't boot, it just sits there. It's been sitting on the same screen, for at least an hour now. About all I could do is boot using a livecd, but then I wouldn't have the errors to view, correct?
Edit: Okay, just in case I checked /mnt/hda1/var/log/messages & /mnt/hda1/var/log/dmesg without finding a single error. I tried grepping /dev, etc with still no results. (This was after mounting the drive of course) I'm really at a loss here guys. Anyone?

I've tried a few things since my last post, to no avail. I did a quick install of Slack 11 without a hitch, using hotplugging, etc and that booted every time off the HD with no issues. Went back and tried the KnoppMyth install, and it did exactly the same thing. This should tell us that all the hardware is known good. I guess if all else fails, I'll install Slack and setup MythTV manually, but I've heard it's a real pain to setup, so I was trying to avoid that.
System info is as follows:
Celeron 1.0+ Ghz (not sure on this I know it's at least 1.0, but it may be 1.2, etc.)
256 MB RAM
120 GB WD HD
40 GB WD HD
WinTV PVR-350 Tuner card
I also put in an extra Firewire card I had laying around and it has an old modem in it, which I don't plan to use.
