Debian is Supported for One Year? The Software is Good for Web Design?

Hi, how long is Debian supported for, is it worth getting Debian Lenny and it's updates this week?

Is it's software, mainly looking at Web design still good? And is there a good range in Debian?

The desktop environs, are they very good? Do all run Compiz?

I have a desktop, with 3 Gb RAM, Dual Core, 500 Gb HDD. I want to make two or three web pages. Run youtube... maybe make a video...

Stable is supported for basically a yr after the next Stable is released. With an average 2yrs or so in between releases. So roughly Stable is supported for approx. 3 yrs give or take a few months either way.
98% of the packages in Mint are in Debian although the versions in Lenny are probably older.

Thanks, and what about Fedora do you know?

I found webgui would not install in Mint. Any value in the newer programs?
