Debian Etch with 2 Kernels Compile Prob

Hi Guys!

So Debian Etch I have with the 2.6.18 Kernel installed ane i want to install a second of type 2.4.26

I know that this works but hav a compile prob.

I gave the new 2.4.26 Kernel a subversion in Makefile and after kpkg... this is the output

usr/src/linux-2.4.26/include/linux/smp.h:29: error: conflicting types for ‘smp_send_reschedule’
/usr/src/linux-2.4.26/include/asm/smp.h:42: error: previous declaration of ‘smp_send_reschedule’ was here
In file included from /usr/src/linux-2.4.26/include/linux/unistd.h:9,
from init/main.c:17:
/usr/src/linux-2.4.26/include/asm/unistd.h:375: warning: conflicting types for built-in function ‘_exit’
make[1]: *** [init/main.o] Fehler 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.26'

Can anyone tell me what this error means?? Trying the Whole day to fix it but no chance.
Before U ask me why i wanna do this One Answer:OpenMosix

Way to go. I always thought about trying that.

I don't actually have an answer to your question but this link has a pre-compiled kernel. He also mentions that it took him 23 trys to get a good kernel?!

Good luck,
Steve

thx for this great link

my prob I think was not to patch the Kernel wtih openmosix ^^

my prob is running both kernels on the same machine

I think i have to fix the dev and udev in fact of the 2.4 kernel doesn´t support another way

I ve gone away from Openmosix Project cause of these Probs and try now Mpich2 and LAM but it´s cool but hard stuff^^ I w#ill get it working

What i´m looking for is an way like openmosix for a beowulf cluster of 12 PCs. Read a lott bout it and wanna build one till June next year.

Hm so what the best would be i think is the Openmosix 2.6 project but still in development and the beta patch is more than buggy

I thin also it would be a possibility to run the second 2.4 kernel in UML but don´t know to much about it (have to read more bout)

If there are any ideas how i could install a 2.4er kernel on an fix installed 2.6 Debian Etch machine as second kernel in grub also i wpuld be happy thx Beowulf

and sry for my bad english not a native speaker U see
