Debian etch installer question

I'm getting ready to install Debian (etch) using the netinstall approach.

A few months back when I tried it, when it got to the part of the installation process where it asked if I wanted to install the bootloader in the MBR, I said "yes" and the Windows installation got completely bunged. Should I have waited and made a choice from a later screen?

Also, I'm using today's (14 Mar) daily build but couldn't see an option for the graphical installer. Is that a choice or is that for the installer RC2?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The RC2 Installer is thought to be ready, but it hasn't been officially released yet. Get it here. I have read several reports from people who used it, and they said it worked perfectly.

I have always put Grub on the MBR ... Most people do. Don't know why you had problems.

To use the graphical installer, instead of hitting [Enter] to boot, type installgui, then hit [Enter]. It's altogether possible that the daily build is the same as RC2, but I don't know.

For i386 and amd64 the graphical installer is available on all CD images and for hd-media installations. To use it, you need to boot the installer with installgui.
In addition, special mini.iso images are available which boot the graphical installer by default (look for gtk-miniiso from the links to other images).

For powerpc and powerpc64 the graphical installer is only available as an experimental mini.iso image. Main reason for this is that tests have shown problems on various machines and we feel it is not yet stable enough for general use.
my emphasis. so instead of just pressing enter to continue, enter installgui and press enter.
