I was able to compile gutenprint 5.1.3 from source and it has Pixma ip4300 listed now. I will be getting one delivered this week, so I will let you know how it goes.
The quality is crap with the gutenprint driver. The 600 dpi is VERY grainy. It looks like the canon driver is in the same boat. I am trying to get the free version of the turboprint working so that I can test that out and decide if it's worth the $. So far this has been a disappointment
As an update to this thread, I did eventually go with the Turboprint driver and have been very happy with it. I have printed 5x7 photos in very good quality. I would recommend it for this printer.
There have been some updated gutenprint drivers since then which were supposed to offer more support for the ip4300. Has anybody tried them?
