Debian Etch 4.0 Mplayer Plugin 3.5 or Greater Help

Has anyone using Debian Etch 4.0 upgraded mplayer plugin to 3.5 or greater? If so how? The repositories don't have it. When I build it from source it just does not play anything. And this process has been a pain in my back side.

If you have the plugins working then can you just place them some where so I can download them please?

Environment

Firefox Browser 2.0

Thanks Lex

I haven't installed it, but it looks like debian-multimedia has a 3.5 package in the unstable repository. http://debian-multimedia.org/dists/u...la-mplayer.php

pljvaldez, thanks.

I added this line

deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org unstable main

to the /etc/apt/sources.list text file

then

aptitude update

It tries to install the 3.4 package. How do I force it to install 3.5 from unstable?

I assume the repository will take care of the dependencies, that is?

Thanks pljvaldez for assisting me.

I haven't done mixed sources for quite some time. But I think it's something like aptitude install -t unstable mozilla-mplayer. Here's the official howto for keeping a mixed system. You might try simulating it first to make sure it's not going to screw anything up. debian-multimedia may make a stable version in 10 or 15 days.

I was mucking around last night and also saw that 3.5 is in the main debian testing repositories. So you could probably try it from there too.
