Debian DVD iso too large?

I am currently running Windows XP pro, and I wanted to try out a linux distribution, so I downloaded the DVD iso of Sarge using jigdo from Debain's website. The only problem is, both Nero and Roxio say that the ISO is too large to fit on a DVD+R. I know this isn't a windows forum, but I am really puzzled on this topic. Do I have to download the CD isos or is there any way I could squeeze the Sarge DVD iso onto a DVD+R? Thanks for the help,
John.

I'm not sure how to help you with your exact question, but if you have a decent internet connection for the computer, I recommend using the net installer instead. Just burn the smaller image to a normal CD, and let it download most of the installation files as you need them. You're more certain to get the newest packages that way. CD's/DVD's become out of date very quickly. It's the only way to go unless you have some specific reason not to. Once you get it all installed, you'll be doing all of your updates over the net anyway.

Get the net installer here: http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

I agree with David the H., the net installer is 100 MB download and you can install all the additional software you need off the net. It is far superior in my opinion than any other way of installing an OS and it is only possible because all of the software is free.

However, if you are trying to install on a computer with a slow internet connection, the DVD install will give you everything you need. The iso image should be 4.3 gigabytes in size. I have made one of these using "jigdo-lite" and that is the size it gives. Make sure when you are buring it the you choose to "burn iso image" or something similar (I'm not familair with Nero and Roxio). Make sure you don't try to burn a data disc containing the iso file, or it won't boot.
