Debian base installed to usb stick, doesn´t boot

Hi,

I installed Debian base system from "Debian GNU/Linux testing "Sarge" - Official Snapshot i386 Binary-1" CD to Sandisk Cruzer 256MB usb stick, but it doesn´t boot.

There´s on error message during boot: "non-system disk or disk error". PC supports usb-boot.

Any idea what to do ??

Thanks!

Did you set the "boot flag" on the USB drive's partition?

Should it be set manually? I used the debian installer, it installed grub (maybe the boot flag also?)

How do i check and set the boot flag setting?

Boot from another medium (Knoppix, or Debian install) and use either fdisk or cfdisk (I prefer cfdisk myself) to check whether the bootflag is set, and if not, set it. Don't forget to save the changes.

There´s boot flag on usb stick primary partition (ext3). It was already there, that means the debian installer set it correctly.

Managed to start the grub and boot sequence from usb stick.

Unable to open /dev/console (something like that)
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill INIT

System freezes..

What might cause this?
