Debian 5.0 Network-Manager interfers with vnet0 bridging to eth0 for virt-manager
Hi i'm trying to install virt-manager , to run a couple of virtual machines, i created a virtual nic vnet0 and bridged it to my eth0, i have configured the /etc/network/interfaces file with proper static ip, but i beleive the network manager is renaming my nic to eth1 and causing all kinds of problems. I uninstalled network manager and now i can ping anywhere in the network, but not outside it. ie google.com
any ideas would helpful. |
Sure it's not a resolving problem? Try pinging an outside IP.

yeah thats the weird part, i can't resolve names outside my network, i have checked both the resolv.conf file and the network/interface file, all looks good, i guess i will keep digging.

What address is in resolv.conf ? is it the address of your broadband router ? or is it the IP address of your ISP's DNS server ?
|
in the resolv.conf i have my dns server and the gateway as the only two nameservers

just for grins clear resolve.conf and just enter 4.2.2.1 as your name server and see if it can browse the internet. . if so theres a problem with your dns servers. if it still can't browse then the issue is not with dns. one possibility eliminated.
