Debian 3.1 Installation Problem(s)

I have a problem when installing debian. My server is as follows:
CPU -AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ stepping 02
MOBO - MSI RX480 Neo2 (ATI RX480+SB400 Chipset Based)
RAM - 512mb of pc3200
PSU - 550w Antec
HDDs - (3)WD2500JD + (2)WD800JD
VID - 16mb PCI video card

Now here is where the problem lies lol, I downloaded, debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso, I checksum'd the download, then after i burned it to a cd i ran the burn verifier built into k3b; both checks came out good. Now my problem lies with once i get the debian bootscreen I press enter and it starts loading and doing the checks etc. After about 2 secs of text streaming down the screen it comes to a halt. Heres the last 8 lines:
Code:
Security Framework v1.0.0 initialized
SELinux: Disabled at boot
Capability LSM initialized
Mount-cache hash table entries: 256
CPU: L1 I Cache: 64K (64 bytes/line), D cache 64k (64 bytes/line)
CPU: L2 Cache: 512K (64 bytes/line)
mtrr: v2.0 (20020519)
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ stepping 02
Then the underscore cursor just sits there blinking.

When I booted with a Debian 3.1 dvd that I got from a magazine these are the last 8 lines:
Code:
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
Freeing initrd memory: 2911k freed
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Mounted devfs on /dev
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Trying to move old root to /initrd ... okay
Mounted devfs on /dev
Freeing unused kernel memory: 96k freed
And again the underscore cursor just sits there blinking.

I tried booting with "install noapic nolapic" other than that I haven't tried much.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks a bunch,
-Lanthrax

Try the testing (Etch) installer instead. There is really no such thing as Stable AMD64 even tho there is a package out there with that name. If we assume that package has the same components as the stable i386 package, you may well have a harware recognition problem.

My AMD 64 system is very similar to yours, and I've never had a problem installing Etch.
