Debian 3.1 install help
Hi,
I'm new to linux/debian in general. I've picked a few things up this past week as I have been sort of thrown in at the deep end.
I've got a dedicated server that is running Fedora Core 3 but I have to install Debian onto it instead.
I have access to a virtual floppy device (where I can upload images of disks to run) and so I have tried to install from the boot floppies. The virtual CD doesn't seem to work. Also, I have no idea how to get the server to boot from an iso or a mount from the hard drive (if anyone could give me a clue on this it would be excellent).
So I've managed to get it to boot from the floppy image and go part way through the set up. It fails the auto config of the network and says DHCP isn't running. I can set it up manually though, so I put in the IP address we were given, and I got the gateway address and name server addresses today.
Everything is fine until I have to choose a miror to download from. Every mirror I pick fails to connect. I have no idea what is going wrong, as it seems everything up to that point is okay.
Can anyone shed some light on this. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ben.
