custom usplash theme on squeeze


Hi

Howto configure custom boot usplash theme on squeeze with grub2 and hide boot text messages?

There is no usplash on squeeze, only lenny. You are going to have to use plymouth.

I would think real hard before I put that on your box. It works real well for lots of folks. Other folks it will stop them from booting at all. Others, like me, it will simply slow boot time to a crawl (3 to 20 minutes) and will not shut down (Alt+SysRq+b will work).

The part of plymouth you never see is supposed to write your boot logs. I have run Plymouth in Ubuntu testing for 3 cycles now and have yet to have one boot log written.

I would put up with the few seconds of non entertainment.
