What is the actual release of debian? Is there a release with 2.6 kernel?
Thanks

Testing has the 2.6 kernel (2.6.4 if I'm right) but woody ships with a 2.4 version (again if I'm right). But you can always upgrade or dist-upgrade your Debian to whatever you want.

woody's got 2.4.24, sarge has 2.6.8, sid has 2.6.10

I thought the official kernel for woody was still at 2.2.x ?

technically, w/out any intall parameters it uses 2.2, but with a special parameter it will have 2.4

Sarge, w/out parameters uses 2.4, but you can type linux26 and get the 2.6 kernel

Sid, I believe uses the same installer, so it will do the same thing as sarge

yeah i knew about sarge using 2.4 by default and 2.6 with linux26...

thanks for the info :)
