Seems its recognised. If you have no other SCSI (or usb-storage module using) devices check if you can find your MuVo doing "fdisk -l /dev/sda". If you get the partition(s) listed you know what to put in /etc/fstab. If you use more than one usb-storage device you better look into using devlabel: its more flexible syncing devices and mountpoints.
I think moving your other topic to a separate thread would be better in terms of exposure.

Besides the MuVo, I use Lacie 200Gb external HDD that uses USB-port
