Red face Could not open /home/knoppix Reason: /home/knoppix is not a file.

Hi fellow pain seekers, Only kidding...I am having a problem that I can't figure out through searches here or at google. I had to re-install my knoppix distro (3.3) the other day and after some struggle with /etc/ppp I got my internet working. I only mention that because in getting kppp working for an ordinary user (knoppix) I may have radically adjusted permissions or did something I shouldn't have?
I now find that whenever I try to open kword it gives me the error message that I started this thread wiith "Could not open /home/knoppixReason: /home/knoppix is not a file."
At the terminal when I type kword (enter) this is what I see:
knoppix@knoppix:~$ kword
WARNING: KDE detected X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) \x08
Major opcode: *
Some threads with this error code suggested that the problem was a xhost issue I tried xhost -localhost and many things including adding a .xsession to my home directory but I still end up with these error messages. I looked at permissions on /home/knoppix but they are not a problem and I can open Open Office and AbiWord with no problem. Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated. Thanks

I don't quite understand, particularly since I really believe kword worked without any hassles the 1st hard drive install I did, but after doing some configuring in kword it now opens and is usable. I still get these strange messages in the terminal:
kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::updateShortcut(): name = "koffice_undo", cut = Ctrl+Z; No KAccel, probably missing a parent collection.
kword: WARNING: KDE detected X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) \x08
Major opcode: *
knoppix@knoppix:/home$
But it works now. If anyone has a clue about these messages I would be glad to have some understanding. Thanks again.

You should look for any errors reported in XFree86's log file in /var/log/. KDE might have its own log files too.
