Hi, I've done a netinstall of etch on a machine in a university network. However I can't access anything on the network, so as you would imagine, the netinstall didn't get very far. What I have is the very basic system. I've tried and tried and can't get this thing to work.

However, if I use the Ubuntu 7.04 live cd, I can manually configure the interface using the GUI network tool, entering the address, netmask, gateway and DNS servers, and everything works.

Now I know that the GUI application is just writing changes to the config files. Can I copy all of the network configuration files from Ubuntu to Debian? What files should I copy?

I think Ubuntu is using iproute and I've tried copying these files as well as some others, but it does not work. Most of the details of what this thing is doing presently can be found in this thread.
