convert wmv video format to known by linux

Is there possibility to convert the wmv window video format to one which is recognized by a linux reader
like xine, totem or evem real player, I couldn't read it on mozilla, there is no plugin for wmv for linux!!

mplayer provides win32 codecs on their site, xine probably has support for them compiled in, if that is the case, all you have to do is place them in the correct location. I believe xine likes them in /usr/lib/win32.

It doesn't support new wmvs though. You might try mencoder though I'm not sure if it'll work. It's installed when you install mplayer.
