confusion Penguin does not resume: -hibernate and initrd
Hya,
I am trying to set up hibernate on my Etch Penguin (Toshiba laptop).
It looks like that hibernate itself works (according to /var/log/hibernate), but this Penguin does not resume. Simply boot.
dmsg reads that kernel parameter is set "resume=/dev/sda4" and nothing happens, just a normal reboot as it can be. No error message or any clue at all. The only one warning (?) I got was uswsusp cannot update initrd.img.
I followed several README's and threads.
ccwilson's mini HOWTO does not say anything about initrd-tools.
/usr/share/doc/hibernate/HOWTO.gz says that initrd-tools is necessary.
Etch dependency tree says initrd-tools is not necessary.
I set up my penguin that all essential components are compiled in so that my penguin does not need initrd on boot.
QUESTION is
Do I need initrd to hibernate/resume on this setup?
Am I in right track to troubleshoot?
Any comments inputs will be appreciated.
Happy Penguins!
