Compiling kernel Debian style or Native style ?
 
Debian style is doing make-kpkg and dpkg -i
Native style is like make menuconfig , make , make install, update-grub

The question is...

What is different btw these style ?

The Debian way gives you a package you can transfer to another machine as well, which you can't with the basic source install. Mind you, I've never got a 'Debian-way' compiled kernel to run on my Etch system, but managed several kernelbuilds the "old fashioned" way...
