compile a driver

Hi,
1. How do I compile a driver (for lexmark 1100 printer ) ? just make ? should it be done in a certain directory ?

2. In the linuxprinting site they instruct to add a certain patch to the driver , add to where? to the source files (should I figure this out alone ?)

3. I'm starting to give up adding printer , the documents and guids are complicated and not understood ,... any one installed Lexmark 1100 ?

Thanks

1. Open the README and/or the INSTALL file, there should be detailled instructions in there.

2. You add the patch to source code, before you install it. So move the patch file into the untarred source code and run it.
