chroot ia32 on debian

You also need a link to your 32bit linker in the /lib path. Change in to directory /lib and create a link to the 32bit linker library of your chroot: (The name of the 64bit linker is ld-linux-x86-64.so.2)

How do I do that for 32bit on sarge 64bit version

This means that i can run i386 packages right?

this is the command i used
debootstrap --arch i386 sid /var/chroot/sid-ia32 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/

Is ia32 and i386 the same then ?

IA-32, sometimes generically called x86-32, is the computer architecture of Intel's most successful microprocessors. Within various programming language directives it is also referred to as "i386". The term may be used to refer to the 32-bit extensions to the original x86 architecture, or to the architecture as a whole.

Don't know much about amd64 but from what i've been reading from the man pages it looks like what you have done should work. You should just
Code:
chroot /var/chroot/sid-ia32 /bin/bash
and see how it works. Again i don't have an amd64 system so i can't test this out but from reading man pages it looks like it should work.

well it worked. So do I just install packages normally within the chroot and it wouldn't interfere with my 64bit packages.
