Changes when switching from MDK10 to Debian

Hi folks,

I'm currently using MDK10 as my desktop and would like to switch to Debian Sarge. Will I experience any major changes from this change in terms of usability?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

What exactly do you mean by usability?

apt and dpkg are great for software installation and configuration. You still have all the desktops and window managers you want to use. There is no GUI config like "Mandrakke Control Center" although you can install WebMin.

Sorry for being vague. Usability in terms of auto-detection of USB devices and CD burning/ripping.

Thanks.

With the 2.6 kernel it supports hotplugging
http://linux-hotplug.sourceforge.net/

I haven't tried the cd burning yet. I will and get back with you.

Thanks for the info dude. I've always had problem in burning CDs in MDK. Not sure if it's a common thing or not.
