Central Management System to manage debian workstations

hi

I'm looking for a Central Management System to manage ca. 100 Squeeze workstations with Gnome over LAN.
I'd like to see which workstation is already running, install updates, software, send a message to a user etc.

With a number of that size, you may want to set up a limited CFEngine (or one of its ilk: Puppet, Chef, Bcfg2) prototype to see if it meets your needs.
