CDROM not found on Etch AMD64
The cdrom works fine. I installed Etch from it. It boots a livecd such as BackTrack (SLAX) and performs operations within that session. It's detected by the system bios. When I boot Debian installed on the hard drive, no cdrom; no /dev/hdc or anything else in /dev that looks like it could be a cd.
dmesg | grep -i sony
dmesg | grep hdc
dmesg | grep scd
all return nothing at all.
The system is a Shuttle SN68SG2. CDROM is a Sony CD-RW CRX32.
Thank you for any helpful thoughts or suggestions.
