Can't get Totem of VLC to play flash video.

Totem will start to play them but claim i need gstreamer bad plugins... it will offer to install them and afterward will say "data stream error" when i try to play any.

Is there a codec package that would allow me to play flash... i already tried the w64codecs package the gstreamer good bad and ugly from synaptic, and installed totem-xine to no avail.

To play flash video you normally use a plugin for your web browser.
I'll assume you are using Stable/Lenny,the following link shows how to install the flashplugin-nonfree:

I know that, i have a flash plugin for the browser... im talking about playing them offline on something like Totem VLC or Mplayer...

Well,my apologies.Had you made that clear in your first post i wouldn't have suggested it.
I've got a couple of .flv files from Youtube,both (s)mplayer and Vlc play them just fine.
You say you have Vlc installed,yes?,try playing the file with Vlc from the command line:
Something like;vlc <yourfile.flv>.See if you get any error messages that way.

Ok. from the terminal, the results for VLC:

for Totem-gstreamer i get gstreamer warnings flooding the terminal when it starts but the only errors exclusive to FLV are the following which results in a "data stream error" alert on the gui side:

Is the .flv file corrupt??Or is this multiple .flv files. Can you open the .flv in Avidemux??
