Can use my web cam mic for ekiga but not the video?

I'm using Debian Sid AMD64, with Gnome 2.22 and ALSA.

I use a Logitech Orbit/Sphere A/F with the uvc driver from http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/.

I would like to somehow get the audio input from the webcam mic to be noticed/used by Ekiga, Gizmo, or Skype.

I haven't the slightest idea how I might do this and I figured you guys might be a good source of ideas.

this is a kernel issue that has been going on for about 8 months. the kernel is is built for v4l2 and your camera needs to be used with v4l1 32 bit ok. if you where using slackware we have a patch debian has a [QUOTE]
For Skype on sidux64 obviously the preload line should point to the 32bit compatibility library:

and you see this to is the same.
Quote:
libv4l-0 is now avaiolable from our repositories, it needs to be installed in order to use gspca2 from legacy webcam applications.
Code:
# apt-get update
# apt-get install libv4l-0
# exit
$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so camorama
(the same applies to other applications)
Quote:
$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
last but not least the subversions for msn the latest build will get your cam to work and chat open a terminal in your favorite folder and type or cut and paste this.
