Can I remove files at /var/cache/apt/archives ?

Hi all,

this is probably dummy question. After apt-get update and apt-get upgrade there are some .deb files remain in /var/cache/apt/archives

My var partition is really small, and will I "destroy" my system if I remove all of them.

There are tools in Debian to clean that folder out.

aptitude clean
or
aptitude autoclean
