Can't play movie in DVD

I just installed Etch 4.0 and it went well, However even after getting w32 codecs and libdvdcss, libdvdread and libdvdnav and setting permissions cdrom, I can't seem to play the movie in the dvd.
However mplayer works on the web trailers?
Any ideas?

As regards w32 codecs and libdvdcss, libdvdread did you install them in the correct location?

Are you trying to play a DVD with mplayer or xine?

Do you have your DVD device correctly mounted?

Very off chance: if you have a 64 system you need win64 you'll be amazed to learn.

Try something else, vlc?
