can't install new kernel


I'm trying to install the latest kernel with apt-get, so i did:

apt-get install linux-image-2.6.15-1-686 and it downloaded all packages required but when it came to install them this is what I got. Can someone help me.

This seems to be one of those "we'll have to wait until they fix it" things.

tronica you installed sarge with 2.6.8 kernel and seem to want to zoom to latest kernel and other programs. Sarge is very stable and many updated programs like kde3.4.3 can be installed from backports. Sarge can also be upgraded to Etch.
If you want newest and latest(with security pkgs) then you can upgrade to Etch or do Etch net-install and carefully add sid packages.
Or you can try out kanotix or mepis live-cds which come with newer kernel and other pkgs and also give you option to install to hard-drive. These cds are based on Etch/Sid.

do those distro's you listed use apt-get? If so I will definitly check them out. Thanks.

apt-get upgrade new kernel

yes kanotix,xandros and mepis are debian-based and use apt-get,aptitude and synaptic for pkg mgt.. Have fun.
