Question can't install ia32-lib (dir full)

Ladies & Gentlemen

I am trying to install Opera in my AMD64 system. I have what seam to be the ia32-lib installed, yet Kpackage reports that the ia32-lib is not installed. I didn't install it. When I try to install I get
Code:
 Unpacking ia32-libs (from .../ia32-libs_2.1_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/ia32-libs_2.1_amd64.deb (--unpack):
failed in buffer_write(fd) (9, ret=-1): backend dpkg-deb during `./emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/dri/sis_dri.so': No space left on device
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/ia32-libs_2.1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
RESULT=100
I do notice the “No space left on device” yet my file manager reports 15.9 meg of free space. My partitions were set up by the installer and I have not installed or set up a disk space quota controller. I have separate partitions for everything.

When I try to launch Opera in a terminal I get
Code:
# opera
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libjvm.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libawt.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
/usr/lib/opera/9.22-20070716.6/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
:~#
I downloaded the Deb-Lenny version from Opera.

My disk usage analyzer reports that the “emul” directory is full. I have looked through the programs in K menu and don't find a “quota” type program.

Any way at the moment I am at a loss as to how to proceed now. Should I uninstall some apps? Resize some partitions?

Thanks to all

You could start by running deborphan, to remove leftovers from removed programs, then do some du -H to find the biggest space consumers. Read the man page for du to learn more useful switches.

Thanks Dutch Master.

I ran deborphan and got a list of 23 odd files. This being a new install and I have yet to uninstall anything (unless it is done during an update by kpackage). I did have 2 kernels installed and removed the one I don't use. That freed up a lot of space on my root partition, which seams to be the one that the 'emul' directory is on.

I tried to install ia32-lib again and for some reason, I suspect a server issue because my other box is having update issues too, I get this error
Code:
 Retrieving bug reports... 0% Fail
Error retrieving bug reports from the server with the following error message:
W: Mandatory parameter 'bug' missing in call to Debbugs::Status::get_bug_status
 at /usr/local/lib/site_perl/Debbugs/SOAP.pm line 114
It could be because your network is down, or because of broken proxy servers, or the BTS server itself is down. Check network configuration and try again
Retry downloading bug information?[Y/n]?
I don't seam to have /usr/local/lib/site_perl/Debbugs/SOAP.pm the tree end at 'lib' there is no 'site_perl'. It must be the server because I reinstalled the list-bug package with the same results.

I went ahead and installed the ia32-lib package and I get this same error when I launch opera
Code:
opera
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libjvm.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libawt.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
/usr/lib/opera/9.22-20070716.6/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
My wife tells me if I want opera to work I need to install the soprano package. Where might I find a source for that? Oh, wrong kind of opera. My wife could care less about linux, thank God that I have you-all to talk to.

Pfoei, that's an odd one. As I don't use Opera and my current main PC is still 32 bits (but a 64 bit machine is being prepared) I can't help you with those errors. Sorry!
